Looking for an inexpensive vest.
« on: August 17, 2006, 06:38:36 am »
I am looking for an inexpensive dog vest, maybe like a service vest, or something similar, or maybe even a t-shirt made for a dog would look fine.  I want to have our Local Dog owners group and the website embroidered on it, so I can totally use Bava to advertise :)

Anyone have any idea on a good place to get something like that?  There is a person at work who does embroidery, so that isn't a problem.

Just thought of something, maybe I should use a backpack, and he could tote the pamphlets.

You know, you could order the sitstay vest, and use those Avery T-Shirt iron ons that you can buy at Office Max or Staples to make your signs to go on them. You just make your 'sign' in whatever graphics program you want--I've done t-shirt designs in Powerpoint!--and print them on your computer printer onto the Avery transfer thing. It's totally simple, and not expensive at all!

I have some of those Iron-ons, but just not sure how well they would stick to balistic nylon type material, I've only ever tried cotton.

I'm still not sure what I want to do, either a shirt, or a vest or a backpack.. or or maybe a bandana.. heh.. argh! I can't decide.

Why not try one of each and the Sophie, Bava, and whoever else's dog wants to advertise can help out?  Then you can see which ones work the best and which ones get lost on your guys.

Magic got his vest at that sit/stay site and it is still like new they also have backpacks, and I use a glue gun to put the patches on,when it needs cleaning I just pull them off and then reglue them,  If you are going to advertize that might be the thing to do.

I got a bag type thing from our local feed store- it was sold as a "saddle bag" that goes over the saddlehorn, and is just big enough to comfortably fit one of our mastiffs without being too big.  I added nylon straps to go under the belly, in front of the chest, and a snap to the collar to keep the front strap from falling down and tripping them.  They are nice heavy-weight nylon with velcro closures, and have D-rings to snap the straps to.  They work great on hikes, as they can carry a couple water bottles, cookies, and slobber towels too.
