question about puberty changes in dogs...
« on: February 07, 2007, 11:20:53 am »
because i don't remember this with axle, i wanted to ask everyone about it.  this isn't a big deal, it's more funny than anything, but i wanted to ask what some of the changes everyone noticed in their dogs when they hit puberty.  diesel has started howling when he hears sirens and OMG it sounds like i'm trying to kill something.  it goes between a HUGE pitch range, and it squeaks and cracks and all.  it's really funny, and all my fur and skin friends / kids ask me whats wrong with him ha ha.  i've also noticed that diesel is soooo out of proportion, but i know that's normal, but he looks like  a deer with HUGE legs, a little bitty body and a really long neck ha ha.  just thought i'd bring this up and see what other changes everyone noticed in their dogs, maybe bring up memories of funny stories!

Well Keela (she's 10 1/2 months) for the last few weeks had a HUGE bulky looking body with a small head...LMFAO.. .she looked fat but I can feel all her ribs through that loose skin and she's still got an hourglass figure...lol So I think she's in an odd stage.

She's starting getting protective. Normally Keela is the most submissive dog EVER...She submits to anything, I thought she wasn't going to be much of a protector/guard dog. Yesterday when I went to pick up my brother in Portland, she was in the back seat and all of the sudden I hear a low "rrrrrrrrrrrr, WOOF!" and she was on edge even when he was putting his bag in the backseat with her. Kinda leery, she knows my brother, he's played with her. Everything was alright as soon as he sat in the front seat...he got lots of slobbers as her way of saying "sorry for confusing you with a BAD scary man" lol.

I praised her when she did it but then told her that it was ok, he wasn't going to hurt us.

It was a HUGE shock, she LOVES people I never in my mind would have thought of her as protective like that. At least now i'll be ok driving through Portland alone :D I'll know when strange guys are approaching ;) Now if I can get her to tell the difference between strange brothers and strange creepy people... lol

She's also not quite as goofy as she was a month ago.

My apologies for writing a book!
