How can I report this woman?
« on: April 24, 2007, 08:16:10 pm »
Hi all!

As some of you know, I adopted Winston off of craigslist from a woman that had 25 other dogs!  He was malnourished, neglected, spent most of his time in a crate, and required 4 weeks to overcome his raging ear infections and mites.

I have recently discovered that this woman is in the business of adopting other newfies off of craigslist, then turning around and selling them.  She does, apparently, have a kennel license.

Other than breaking craigslist rules, is there anything that I can do?  I have reported her to the rescue coordinator for the local Newfie group, but it didn't seem like anything could be done on their end.

Any other suggestions???

What are you local municipalities regulations regarding quantitiy of dogs allowed at a residence?  If this person has a kennel license it may be difficult to get her on this unless she is mistreating the creatures.  Sadly the law and ethihcs do not always see eye to eye.

you could call your local SPCA and report the conditions (animal abuse if they're mostly like that).  also, our police dept. back home would look into it, if there were multiple dogs in bad condition.  also, if she has a kennel license, you could find out how to get one, and then go to that office and report it.  the county sure wouldn't want one of their licenses for her!

forgot to mention, good luck!  it's sometimes hard to get justice in cases like these.  helps a TON if you know other people who can put complaints in with you.

Yeah, get more people involved, write the paper, CALL THE PAPER, contact a news station and find out if there is animal control in your area... more people, more fuss, the more the auhorities want to fix it.
