Need help finding English Foxhound
« on: June 21, 2007, 11:35:32 am »
hello all,

Well we are finally ready to start looking for dog #2.  We currently have a beagle but wanted something that was a little bigger but still had the cute beagle look.  I have tried looking all over the internet for English Foxhounds and have had very little success finding and good info on rescues or breeders.  If anyone has any advice or people to call please let me know.  Shoot me an e-mail at sgoehner@hotmail.com or respond to this message.  As I mentioned we would like to look at a rescue or a breeder.

Thanks,

Scott

I went on Petfinder.com and looked up foxhound, I found quite a few pooches looking for a good home. Why don't you see if one is right for you there? Good luck! :)

I don't know where you're located, but, when I was looking for an English Foxhound here in California, I could not find a breeder.  The English variety is rare in the US.  If you are looking for a purebred, you'll want to start with the AKC's website to look for breeders.

Try contacting their AKC club I'm sure they can point you to breeders.

Have you considered a Walker Hound instead?

Try looking under HARRIER as well  Have you considered some of the other hunting dogs  a pointer perhaps?

There is a website called houndrescue.co m.  They have a listing of hounds available in Texas but also a link to the national hound rescue website.  It's pretty awesome and they have English Foxhounds sometimes available also.
