Mystery dog breed
« on: September 26, 2007, 12:32:49 pm »
Does anyone know what kind of pup this is? He was at our puppy class, but I didn't get a chance to ask his owner about him. He's black all over with brown flecks throughout, and pretty tall and slim but I thought perhaps not a dane pup. But I don't really know!

He looks like the kind of puppy dog I would consider puppy-napping.  What an adorable dude and luck you for being able to share a class with him.  Oh, and I'm not sure what breed he is.

maybe a mastiff mix? but the docked tail threw me. I wonder if his tail is actually docked or if he was born that way. I had a foster puppy who was born with a nubby tail.

Well the Boerboel Mastiffs have docked tails.  He/she could be a Boerboel Mastiff.  Very cute.

Cane Corso...they tend to have docked tails and the colouring would fit. Kinda hard to tell because the pictures are dark around his face.

He definitely looked like he could be a Boerboel Mastiff or a Cane Corso. I'll have to ask next week! Thanks guys!

Whatever he is he is just so darn cute! Ask at your next class what he is and let us know too.

Yes, the ears threw me off when i looked at some pictures of Cane Corsos. Why do they dock the ears? Were they fighting dogs?

Are Cane's ears that long and wide when they are pups??  He looks like a mix to me, the ears and top of head look lab (that's why I'm asking about the ears, not too familiar with cane pups!!)  I do love that coloring though!!

We had puppy class this morning, and sure enough, this guy is a cane corso! He's bigger this week, too. He's about 4.5 months old.
