The Dilbert mystory is solved
« on: August 02, 2005, 11:46:23 am »
Well finally I know what Dilbert is mixed with. On the weekend while Tim and I were at he off leash park I saw this beautiful white dog in the distance, I looked at Tim and said hey therse a Pyr! ( don't see them very often around here) The women keept walking with her dogs down the path. Well about an hour later we saw her again and my mouth dropped her Pyr mix looked exactly like Dilbert, only Dilbert is taller. Tim asked her what kind of dog it was, and she said "well Daisy is a rescue, so I am not certain what she is, but she is mixed with boarder collie, she has a very strong herding instinct" We then told her that her Dilbert is a pyr mix, and it looks like Daisy has Pyr in her. I wish I had a camera that day, they looked like twins!! And like tanimara said it is not uncommon to find mixed working dogs, they are unaltered they will mate. So I finally know what he is mixed with.  ;D
And from looking at border collie pics, he has the ears.

That's so cool, don't you love it??  Khiori-puppy (now passed) and Leo both had/have Aussie shepherd in them.  I was telling someone about that.  They asked why I had Aussie shep mixes.  I didn't know how to tell him that herders tend to be ... outgoing lol.

That's great! I love mixed breeds for that reason, the mystery, and the guessing!  I guess that could be the same way a Collie and a Pyrenees ended up together and created sweet Sunshine Bear! The un-altered livestock dogs!
Last night we were looking at pictures of Saint Bernards and now I finally understand where Nigel's curly tail comes from! No one ever guesses that he has Saint in him. He doesn't look it at all and if I hadn't seen his mama I'd never believe it! But who knows what he'll look like full grown! Right now he just looks like a short-eared Bloodhound.

I love the mystery too, that is how I learned about all these differnet breeds, from trying to figure out what he is!  :) It explains why he is soooo fully of energy, although he is still only 7 months, but also explains how he is such a fast little bugger, when he runs! very hard to catch him, although he loves it, thinks it a game, I'll let momy come just close enough to make her think she can catch me, then I'll take off again!! He's such a bugger somtimes! But I love him
