Congrats on the newest additions!

I'm curious though.  I know with some mutations the offspring can be weaker and more sickly which is why you don't often see them in the wild.  They simply die off.  Do you suppose the melanistic deer could have underlying health issues related to their unusual coloring?

and as for the hunting, I think the original person was referring to "canned hunts" which to me isn't hunting at all.  I have no problem with hunting in the traditional sense, provided you use what you kill and aren't wasteful.

We had a horrible season last year, mid june to early july everything refroze, causing all the fruits, berries and vegetation to die. my mom is always picking berries and apples but last year couldnt because there were not enough for the bears and deers, etc. so these animals were making their way into the towns. SO, because of lack of food, there were more and more being killed and hunted.  We always find poached animal parts when we go out to the woods with the dogs. we have found bear heads, bear paws, deer legs, moose bones, deer skulls. its  truely sad but because of lack of resorses, it seems nobody cares that people are poaching.
Im not a hunter, nor will i ever hunt. Im not against it though depending the circumstances.  we actually take drives durring spring-fall in the bush looking for wildlife.  we see many deer (usually two or three in a group) and we see bears by the truck load. (So far we havent seen anything this year.) And sadly, people are distroying, bulldozing our  bush. and apparently, its to replant cedar trees!!! WTH!!! tore down about 2 football feilds or more worth of trees and brush, to replant. it doesnt make sense to me. and it looks terrible. no wonder the animals make their way to town... (see pics)

Awww. I'm sorry to hear you had to put the new babies down. I'm sure it was best though. If they couldnt even lift their heads, and all they did was sleep, that is probably not a good sign. I wonder what was wrong with them?

Well, at least now you can stop worrying about them, and keep focused on the other two new babies :-*

RIP little guys. :-*

Thanks all.  I had a bad feeling about those babies from the beginning and I didn't let myself get too attached.  They are better off.  Even if they had lived, who knows how they would have been.  We don't know if they had any other internal problems.  Quality of life is more important than quantity of life.

I guess we tried to interfere with Mother Nature's grand plan and Mother Nature got the best of us anyway. That makes me feel it was meant to be.  Mother knows best, right?

We had a total of four.  Two were born last week, Bella and Sable and they are still doing well.  The two that died were born this past Saturday.
