well that settles that!
I didn't know where the French lived as opposed to the English speaking canadians lived.   BUT i knew there was a difference.

that's pretty cool.  I should have paid more attention in my foreign language classes.  I could really use that Spanish around here these days.

Sometimes it can be a pretty touchy subject in this part of the woods.  ::)
I think that there are more Spanish speaking people these days than French!!! I want my daughter to learn Spanish ;D Quebec is where the majority of French speaking are.

I think it's touchy every where.  English is almost a second language anywhere nowadays.  I had never met anyone who didn't speak English till I moved here 10 years ago.  It was really hard to get used to ... I learned how to say "I'm calling the police" in Spanish.  There were really bad gangs where I lived.

I dont speak one ounce of french.  I know a bit of Spanish but that is because I lived in the states for a few years.

If you go to Montreal or Quebec you will hear french, but its almost a slang french.  The real french people take offence to the way their language is used here :)

If you come to the falls its a regular league of nations meet up.  You will see every nationality known to man.  Then there is Toronto, its...wow... I am not even going to go there, but lets just say, english as a first language is becoming the minority.

Do you go to  TO much??

I know what you mean all to well, my entire family is from Quebec and well we don't speak of the seperation thing or it's all out war! The family is split down the middle. Thank the Lord I grew up bilingual, that way I just speak french to them and avoid any... complications.  ::)

We just attended the candler light vigil for the pitbulls last night here in Halifax and they had some interesting information. First off, it wasn't a bunch of dog crazed lunatics, it was hosted by the Dog Legislation Council of Canada. Please go to their website before you bring your girl across the boarder into Ontario. ABSOLUTLEY NO DOG THAT FALLS INTO THE BULLY CATEGORY IS ABLE TO ENTER ONTARIO. Even if your dog is muzzled and follows all of the grandfather clause rules, your dog is not a resident of the area and can be taken, only dogs that have resided in Ontario are able to remain following strict rules.

I do believe it is as bad as some are making it out to be. A predicted 5000 dogs will be euthanized for no other reason than their breed. These are the dogs that are in shelters and pounds. If they do survive they can be sold to research facilities where these dogs can have horrible tests preformed on them.

The dogs that are able to remain with their owners have to follow strict policy. Muzzles on at all times off of their owners property. ANY form of aggression is considered enough to have the dog taken from their owner, this could include having a pit (muzzled) walking down the road on lead and having another dog snap and growl at the pit, if the pit responds with a growl or bark back and it is PERCEIVED as aggression by ANYONE(and this includes the little old lady across the street who is terrified of dogs)- the pit is at fault. If the most wonderful pit happens to escape (and even the most responsible owner could have a little accident with opening their door and the dog rushes out to greet them) and ONE paw steps off property, the dog can be seized.

The Dog Legislation Council Of Canada has pleaded with the government and have shown all of the statistics of how and why these bans don't work, but they have failed to listen. So today lawyers have been hired by the council to fight the ban in court. Unfortunatley they had to wait for the ban to be enacted before it could become a legal matter. It is a long shot, and the money could probably be put to better use than in court battles, but they have to do everything that they can.

Their web site is www.doglegisla tioncouncilcan ada.org
