Here are some pics in the day and life of Caucasian Legend

The lighter colored dog is Balou one of my favorite CO's and the darker one is Dato, Mishas Daddy he too is an amazing dog.

The pic with Balou is sitting, mind you he is 6months old in that picture...ONE BIG BOY and he is 7months old in the one where he is standing on his hind legs

Enjoy, I know I do when looking at them

I love the pic of them all lined up on their beds.  How many dogs does she have?

I'm curious.  For the asians, I don't suppose you have a picture of a close up of their ears?  I've been trying to see what the ears look like.  Are they really small like a shar pei's?  Or just sit really flat to the head?  It looks almost like they have no ears at all.  ;)

There really is no ear flap...the crop is a complete amputation of the ear flap

They are both livestock guardians but different breeds...howev er very similar in traits...these 2 breeds are the more extreme of the LGD's

Oh, their ears are cropped?  I thought it looked that way, but I'd never seen such a close crop before.  Interesting.  Do you know the reasoning behind it?

BTW, I love the CO's ever since coming across the breed several months ago.  They are simply gorgeous.  Don't know as much about the Asian or other O's

The original reason is because the dogs were in the fields along for days on end with the herds or traveling with nomadic tribes...the ears and tails were docked for preventative maintenacnce.. .if the the wolf or predator got a hold of the ear, the dog could bleed to death before the shepherd ever found the dog...

It is done at 3 days...there is no taping and isnt as extreme as a traditional crop with all the taping even though it looks more servere...the pups are young and healded before the week is over

I wonder if that's how they do cane corso ears.  Their crops sit very close to the head, too.

Thanks for the info.  I love learning about breeds I don't know so much about.
