HOISINGTON, Kan. -- As residents sorted through the rubble Sunday from a tornado that ripped through their town with winds exceeding 200 mph.
Shawn Ney said it was his pet rottweiler, Missy, that saved his life.
Missy refused to come when Ney tried to head for his parents house to seek refuge in the basement.
So, he hunkered down to wait out the storm in his east-side home, which was not damaged.
His parents' home, where he wanted to be, was destroyed. The Plymouth Neon belonging to his sister was picked up from the street east of the house and flipped into the basement against the chimney.
"That's where I would have been if I'd have come over here," Shawn Ney said. "My dog saved my life."------------------------------------------------------------------------
