Yep, same here.  I've always been unable to fall asleep until late if at all.  My mom was also a night owl, as was her father and my poor daughter is the same as well.  So I definitely see it being passed down through our family.  With Tori being only 8yrs old, she still has to conform to "school hours" so I definitely feel for her.

My daughter Alyx is 7 and she has ALWAYS been the same way.  The day we brought her home from the hospital... she wouldn't go to sleep until about midnight (wasn't fussy, hungry, etc. Just wouldn't sleep).  But when she did go off to sleep... the kiddo didn't wake back up until 9:30 in the morning.   If I make her go get in bed anytime before 10 (I homeschool her, so bedtime isn't a huge deal here), she is still laying in her bed awake whenever I go up at midnight.    All of my siblings are insomniacs as well.  As is my oldest nephew.

Edited to add... I have a ton of things to do every day.  My hours are just different.  I have my highest energy level in the evening, when everyone else is beginning to wind down.

I know what you mean...I do my major housekeeping, write out bills, etc. after 8:30 at night....I hate mornings!

I don't love mornings, but we have a whiney alarmclock (yes, Kate) that starts crowing at 6:30am every weekend.  It sucks, but I think I've gotten used to it...

I start work at 7am during the week (up at 5:30am everyday).  I work in the city, and being 20 mins outside of town means if I started work any later, I'd be sitting in traffic for an hour every day (no thanks).  Starting at 7am and leaving around 3pm ensure I miss the traffic going in and going home from work.

BUT - I would really like to sleep in a bit on weekends, but Kate just won't have it.  It pisses me off because during the week, I have to WAKER HER UP when I get outta bed and practically carry her outside for a pee.  She gives me dirty looks, as if to say "Um, hello - the princess is sleeping, so back off!"  But, on the weekend - it's fine to wake up Mommy by biting her toes or doing a pile-driver wrestler-move on her head!

It's gotten to the point now where I'm so used to waking up at 5:30am during the week, that come Friday night - by 9pm I'm sitting on the couch watching TV with one eye open and only catching glimpses of what I'm trying to watch, while fighting the famous 'head-bob' the entire time...

Dazy wakes me up at about 7:30 every morning to go out, but then we go back to bed. LOL  She adjusted to our schedule around here.
