Dogs Laugh?
« on: December 05, 2005, 03:19:17 pm »

Saw this link over on newf.net, really interesting they are saying that a certain type of panting is equal to a dog laughing...

Darmok has a different style of panting when she's happy than if she's just tired--I always considered it to be laughing!

That's really cool! I think that dogs can laugh. Maybe every shelter should try the recording. I wonder how long it takes for the dogs to start barking again. hhhmmm interesting!

Yeah, I posted this yesterday, but nobody read my thread.   :'(  :'(

I'm curious to know how long they stay quiet as well.  If it is for awhile, one could make alot of money selling those tapes as training tools for continual barkers.

I deffinately think that Zoey has a laugh-pant. When we are playing and she is having fun or she gets to do something really special, she has a happy-pant that she does even though she's not tired or thirsty :)

how cool!  hugo does this very thing.  when he has a toy and is prancing around showing off, he does that type of panting.  he is laughing!!  thanks for sharing this!  i will have to pass this along to all my other giant schnauzer friends whose dogs do this!

Did anyone see this on GMA? They did research and played it in shelters and it calms the dogs when they hear the laugh.
