New to BPO

Hello all,
I have been reading all your posts for a couple months and, as my family and I get closer to purchasing our first dane I thought I would join BPO. What a great group you seem to have!

I am not too computer savvy so please bear with me :-\ as I go.

Anyways, we are looking for a dane starting in the fall of this year. We are in love with the merles and harlequins! Can anyone recommend a breeder in New England or even steer me away from any less-desirables in the area?

I would greatly appreciate ANY advice as this is a big and VERY exciting decision and I want to go about it the right way.

In the meantime, I will continue to drool over all the beautiful fur babies here!!!!!

I am Rebekah and I have 6 mutts and one Dane.
Too bad you are not closer to TN because I have been fostering a real sweet merle dane for a local rescue group.  :)

Thank you for the post. Leeloo is too beautiful, as are your other babies. I have been reading your posts about Nigel recently, I truly hope it all works out for you.

Rescue is certainly something we will consider, I do want to wait until after the summer to get my Dane as we have a couple trips planned that would not be pet-friendly and cannot be changed. I have requested an application from the Great Dane rescue in our area, regardless.

And, we are going to fence in the yard in the meantime. Thanks again!

Hi & welcome to BPO!...I am always glad to see another person who does their research & bides their time in choosing the right dog for them!...I'm Chelle & I live in Iowa with my hubby, 2 children, 10 cats, (2 of which are fosters) 2 house bunnies, a guinea pig princess, & 3 dogs...Samson & Pippin are both Great Pyrenees aged 1 & 1/2 & just turned 1 & Rosie who is supposed to be a Kuvasz mix who we rescued Dec. 1 this past year...She is supposed to be between 1 & 1/2 & 3 depending on who you ask...lol...I just love the Danes & thy were one of my top breeds to choose from in my research...I decided that the Pyr fit us better but just marginally...I am glad you joined us & I am really looking forward to seeign your Dane baby when you get him/her!
