It is with great sadness that I am looking for a new and forever home for my two newfoundland dogs. I have recently become pregnant (with complications) and am unable to give the dogs the time and exercise they so truly deserve. My youngest is a black and oldest is a landseer. They are mother and son and must go together. Anyone interested in adopting them must be willing to meet them first and I will decide which home is best suited for them. The dogs will NOT be shipped, so the potential new owners must be willing to travel by "car" with them. Only serious inquires will be considered.

Okay... Maybe it is the time change... maybe it is the fact that I hate my job.. but I swear, if I see ONE more person giving up their "beloved pets" because they are pregnant, I'm going to take hostages!!!   >:(

One of my very, very good friends just had a sweet baby boy and they have 2 boxers.  While she was pregnant, she looked at the dogs as motivation to get out of the house and get some exercise.  Since precious Blake has been here, everything has been great!!  Roxy and Hank (the boxers) love little Blake and are very gentle and attentive with him.

Why don't people at least give this a chance???  I see sooo many people here that have successfully integrated children and large breed dogs.  It is just frustrating... .

I really don't understand it either, I can't wait to have a baby and for Harley to be able to interact with him or her. Most people know ahead of time that they are going to have children, so if you know this and know that you won't have time for a dog then DON'T GET ONE! GRRRR  >:(

it does say she's having complications though.  although i don't agree with ppl getting rid of their dogs because of a baby, or even b/c they're pregnant, because it's only 9 months of their lives.  BUT, that said, we don't know what's going on when she says "complications" either.  i sure do feel sorry for the babies though.  we have a woman here who is adopting a baby and has decided to rehome BOTH her dogs, even though only one doesn't like kids.

Yeah...I mean, if she has been put on bed rest and can't walk them or whatever, we can't really judge her for that. Them's some big kids, thar.

Now..that said...I don't see why she couldn't just find a temporary home for them...

Anyway, I WANT THEM! hahhaha! I wish I could take them! And, does anyone know...is that an Air Force Base?

I think it's sad if a family ever reaches a point where they have to decide to give up their big dog. How can you ever decide and know that giving them up is the right thing to do? They're as much a part of the family as anyone else. They're the only kind I know capable of unconditional love, yet they're the first to go. It's so unfortunate.

For all you who sit on your pedestal and think that you have the answers to every person's life problems, please do the world a favour and focus on your own problems and family.  Who are any of you to pass judgement or dictate how someone should handle their life.  I can appreciate everyone's love for dogs, but get off your high horse and focus on the big picture.  Not everyone can stop their entire lifes for their dogs.  Since when did human life take a back seat to our pets.  Get over yourselves.

Holy smokes! You know, I understand what you mean, but before you rush to judgement, please take a moment to get to know the board.  I'm Julie, mom to 3 big dogs and one cat.

Many here are involved in rescue and have seen lots of "beloved pets" thrown by the wayside when children come along...and, frankly, it gets frustrating and old. Just like people give up their pets when they move, get divorced, decide they want a bigger house, more expensive car, or just plain don't want them anymore.  Yes, many may have valid reasons (like this person with complications) but a huge amount are just sick of their "beloved pets". That is the frustration you are hearing.

I think the answers to the questions/statements "Who are you to pass judgement?" and "Focus on your own problems" are one in the same:  When you are involved in rescue, other people dumping their pets *is* your problem and they have made it open to judgement by doing so. The "owners" have passed the buck by dumping their pets.

And, dogs and humans cohabitate VERY well...rarely does one have to choose one over the other.

JMHO.

Julie

Well said Julie.  I'll add one more thing, then *poof*, I am not going to marinate in someone's negativity.

Sure, some people have very valid and heartbreaking reasons to give up a family pet.  Maybe, however, Shocked, you should get to know those of us who are on this board, who work in rescue, and who see dogs tossed aside for no other reason then it "got big."   Sometimes, we need to take our own advice.  Get to know us before you pass judgement on the members or opinions of people on this board and see a different perspective, which we do very well here, other than your own.

If you are a member of a board then surely you should have a more open mind than that.  Read through the comments and tell me whether or not you don't think half these people have passed judgement on someone that they have never met, nor even know.  I have two wonderful and loving dogs as well.  These are my kids, as I have none of my own.  At no point in the ad does she mention just wanting to give up her dogs for no reason.  In fact, considering the circumstances it sounds like she is trying to do the right thing for her animals.  So, instead of pointing fingers and "assuming" she has some other motive for wanting to rehome her dogs, perhaps people on here should be offering "help"...not critisism.  I stand by what I said.  For people who love animals so much, half these people sound like they have little to no compassion for a woman who may, for all intents and purposes, be suffering in having to make the decision.  Good forbid anyone of us is in a similar situation ourselves.  Are rescue workers simply about helping the animal, or should they also show some compassion and understanding for the perhaps "saddened" individual who has to make this choice.  She sounds like she's making a legitimate call for help.  She could have just as easily gave the dogs to anyone or sent them to the pound.  Not one person on here seems to offer any type of help.  Shame on you.

Perhaps you should re-read the "first" response.  At no point did I imply that ALL person on here were judging her.  But certainly, many of them are.  If you can't see that then you're definitely not reading everything.  I can only hope that she never sees this because I imagine that some of the comments would break her heart.  Don't assume that I'm implying "you're" uncompassionat e.  But some people on here are definitely judging her!!!  Don't pretend they're not!!!
