What I learned when I took a trip...
« on: July 25, 2005, 07:49:58 am »
overnight to my Mom's sister's house in Michegan...

1.Old  Laso-apsos (SP) jump up and bite your weenie and it still hurts, even if they only have three teeth.

2. Kitties will hiss and swat you if you put your nose in their bottom for a freindly sniff.

3. Kitties cannot swat as easily if you pin  them down with a paw before the freindly sniff...but Mom freaks out.

4. Bunnies are scary

5.If you pick up the plastic ball with the hamsters in it and bring it to someone to play fetch...Everyo ne freaks out.

5. Bunnies are really scary.

6. Golfers get really mad if you steal their balls when they are putting in the livingroom. Non-golfers laugh their butts off.

7. Vacations are fun, but there is no place like home... and there are no bunnies there either.
Love,
    Strider.

It was a quick trip, and short enough that Strider was actually very well behaved, all in all. It was an excuse to socialize him a bit in a secure location, but a strange place and new faces and breeds. My sister has: the weenie biting/gumming Lasa, a white shepard, a pit/lab cross, two cats, five bunnies, and tw hamsters. The cats, bunnies and hamsters were all new to him, and the lasa is the smallest dog he has ever encountered.

The bunnies didn't do a thing, he just was terrified of them, even in their cages. When my sister took down the mildest of them all and let him move around, Strider hid in the bathroom and kept peeking out until the evil bunny was put back in his cage. Then Stri came out, but he still avoided the bunny room in the house. Go figure.

That's HILARIOUS!! We fostered a couple bunnies for a few weeks and the Australian Cattle Dog we are also fostering LOVED them! She thought they were hers. She would herd them under the couch and keep an eye on them and wouldn't let any other animal near them. It was a riot!!

Sam loves them!...Jack wants nothing to do with Sam but Jill returns his affection...un til he gets too "sniffy" & then she gets up opn her hind legs & boxes the crap out of his nose!...You have never laughed until you've seen a 100+ lb. dog sent running, tail tucked by a 8 lb. bunny!

Had to edit to add "Hey Strider, look what Santa brought you next to the Christmas tree." (Imaginary sounds of abject fear and dog-freak out...)
