How long can your dog sleep?
« on: August 02, 2005, 05:46:47 pm »
In my house it seems as though Bear could sleep all day long, get up for a bit and then sleep again. Now that Nicki is with us while in transit, I have learned Angus never sleeps. He is awake all of the time. I don' tknow how he does it! Is it normal to sleep al the time? Is it normal to be awake all of the time?
Hugs,

Solo is the same way (sleep sleep sleep).  But I think he does it out of boredom since he can stay awake if we go out for a day trip.  Leo on the other hand is go go go go go.

Zoey sleeps all the time. I think part of it is boredom, since she is more likely to sleep when she has nothing exciting to do, but most of it is that she just gets tired... I remember when she was a puppy, she would fall asleep all the time, no matter where we were - at the pet store, during a vet exam, and in the middle of a hike are some of the more memorable times.

Samson has always slept alot...When he was about 6 months old I decided he wasn't entergtic enough & maybe his gums were pale so I took him to the vet for blood work...The diagnoses & prognoses was good...Turns out he was a normal Pyr pup...lol!

I think both kinda are normal. Hera is on the go almost all the time, sometimes she will make you believe that she is tired and ready to take a nap on the couch, but as soon as someone as much as take a step she is up and ready to gooooooo. She sleeps okay during night, but she is awake all day lol...

Galahad on the other hand is sleeping most of the time, he does a play raid and then back to sleeping, he goes from the couch to the bed, then up and walk around for awhile, check if there have come any more food in his bowl and then back to the nappi nap.

Zeus is something inbetween the two. He can sleep if nothing goes on, but if there is something he is interested in, he can stay awake a whole day

So I think I have one of each and one inbetween, I think dogs are just like us, some are more hyper and active then others, some are totally cool and chill all the time. The one thing all my dogs have in common though, is that they like to sleep in, in the mornings, and I cant say I am complaining hehe
