I had contacted this woman about her smooth coated collies I was thinking of getting one for my ex husband he is so lonely without Luna. I think this might be the perfect match only I have some  The price is now $150.00 and today she told me to call her I did only she told me that she wasn’t Kari and I emailed her and told her I tried to contact her. She emailed me back and told me she thought I was some one selling something then she emailed me with the terms re:picking up the pup I was to pay before I pick her up by pay Pal or cash. I emailed her back and told her I might give her 1/2 and the rest when I picked up the pup. I am driving from Buffalo to Youngstown to pick up the dog why would I stiff her. For these puppies coming from rescued parents I don't know what I am getting myself into. My 3 are rescues and I have NEVER paid for a dog other then vet bills . I am always telling people go to the pound or rescue group before you pay for a puppy I feel kind of guilty should I ? Here are the Pics she sent me.Marina



I am in Ohio, and I am asking $150 Each For them They are AKC registerable, Their mom and dad were "rescues" their owner died and they were left emaciated and mom pregnant with the puppies. We are keeping mom and dad and one puppy as we love them!!!! and have 10 acres so Lotsa room to play! If you want 2 of them I will take $250 For them together. They will be Smooth Coat but still they are 100% Collie and have all the traits ....... Dad is a Blue merle smooth and mom is a sable rough...... they have had 1st shots and de-wormed. Their Names are Faith and minnie mouse, Minnie mouse is the one with no white on her face and I think Faith has the lil' strip. I don't know if they are still an option for you since you live in NY, but I could meet you in Youngstown Ohio which is at the PA Border. Feel free to Give me a call

I'm confused- what is the problem again?  $150 for a large breed pup is quite reasonable- I know it costs me more than $150 per pup to raise them.  I didn't understand the part about paying for them before ownership was turned over  Maybe she could have said it more tactfully but a lot of people will only accept cash, bank drafts or money orders.  If she is driving a long distance she may want some assurance that you will be there

Well i guess you did'nt read it close enough first of all she ask me to call her when i did she told me that she was'nt at home I think that is strange i don't have a problem w/the $150 she would like me to give it to her all at once i have a longer drive than she does. I think it would be fair for me to give her 1/2 then the rest when i pick the dog up??? I don't know her if i gave her the full amount who is to say she would'nt give me the dog

Recently, on craigslist in Texas, a woman was rehoming a bulldog and wanted the $$$$ upfront and then would later deliver the dog.  It turned out to be fraud.

I dont see anything wrong with half upfront and the rest upon pick-up.  That is completely fair.

Craigslist is full of Scams, good ones too. So always think if it looks fishy and smells fishy then Something is fishy!!!

No chance I would ever send complete payment to someone I discussed business with on a Public swap forum!!

If they can't meet you half way on price and drive move on REALLY!!!

That is certainly a cute puppy - BUT I would be leary.

Even if you pay her half what is to say she is going to show up at all if it is a scam 1/2 of the money is still a loss.

I don't know what my answer to this would be I would want to have more information like her home address, home phone number etc.  if you had that you could do a reverse search on white pages . com to see if at least the last name and address are legit.  Also can she e-mail you a potential contract so if you do have to hunt her down you have some documentation?

I'm sorry I'm such a skeptic but I have read to many things about to many wonderful people getting scammed - that said I did have Harley shipped in from Texas sight unseen??

Well those were my thoughts as well i really thought it was strange she did'nt ask for the $ right a way after the 5th email she did come right out and say that she wanted me to call her then she would only take cash or Pay pal. I would have to drive futher then her what if she never showed  the part that really threw me is when she told me to call and she told me she was't her self in a email she sent me later she thought that was funny

This whole situation sounds so very fishy. If the parents were found abandoned and emaciated (because of death of owner)how does she know they are AKC registerable? Sounds like the add was trying to hit all the key words and heart strings. Pure bred puppies... death of owner... We did good deed by taking them in...but give us money for the pups. Not, could you help cover vet bills.

I would be very wary. I think COD is your safest bet. Hopefully it will work out and you can get the little cutie out of a strange situation.
