AKC AAAHHHH!! (rant)

I'm so fusturated. I just recieved Kiah's registration certificate from the AKC and there are two spelling error's in her name. There's an error in the kennel name. The breeder wrote it in, so I have nothing to do with that one. I called the akc and ask if they could get it fixed for me. They want to charge $15 to get it corrected. I already gave them $60 to register and get some of the extras. The lady said it was my fault that it was that way on the paper's I sent in. I knew I should have made a copy for me. She is going to send me a copy of the papers. I'm just so aggravated! 

Don't worry I know they are good people. Just seems a little money hungry.

how aggrevating!  I have to send Grace's in before March next year or they get late fees. 
Those extras are kinda cool though.

The exact thing happened to us!  Chester's AKC name, "Country Gentleman" came up  "Country Genrilfviman" or something similar.  I had to pay  the $15.00 to get it done right.  It seems to be I had to pay to correct their mistake!

OMG! They messed up on my name on Bear's AKC paperwork too. They spelled my name Jain one the paper and in reality it is Jaime. Grrr....I hate them! Luckily I could really care less about the papers so I never changed them or paid the additonal $15.

I called the breeder today because it was that part of Kiah's name that they messed up. She said to fight them on the $15 due to their error. The akc is sending me a copy of the paperwork to look over. When I get I will call again. The breeder said if I can't get it changed then she would call them too. I'm so glad that the breeder is willing to help me out. She's an older lady and does care about her dogs. So if anyone is looking to get a pyr let me know.

Stick with it.  Normally you have a copy, your breeder has a copy, and they get a copy.  Maybe your breeder has a copy?  Boy, I'd stick to your guns and make them correct it.  It's not just the money, it's the idea this has been done to how many people?

We never registered Bryce with AKC because we found out he had a genetic illness and we wouldn't be able to even trial him.  So we saw no reason.  He is already registered with the Canadian Kennel Club.  Unless we trial or show, we saw no reason to go any further with this. 

Next pup we get though, after hearing all you folks and what you've gone through, we'll definately be very careful.

I called the AKC back today to get the form to get Kiah's name fixed due to an error on my part as well as one on theirs. The lady I spoke with did it over the phone and didn't say anything about charging me. I guess will see if it gets done when I receive the new certificate. I'll be so happy if it's correct.

Deaing with the AKC is like dealing with any other organization. Your expereince is only as good as the person on the other end of the phone. It's nice to hear of someone willing to extend themselves a little. Customer service is a dying art these days.
