Something i just dont understand
« on: November 12, 2005, 12:39:30 am »
I dont understand how when you are getting ready to start toning down at night to go to bed, the dogs think that it means lets start wrestling and barking at eachother.  I mean all day we have been outside working in the yard and working out the horses.  They should be passed out and i am sitting here on my couch doing my nightly routine of checking the posts on BPO, eating ice cream, and relaxing ahile the dogs are running as fast as they can through the whole house and when i let them out to play outside they look at me like women are you crazy.  I just dont understand. :-\

I am so with you there! :) Bava just gets this look in his eyes.. and it's like Oh h*ll here we go, time for zoomies in the bedroom bouncing off the bed running in circles, etc.  And we're trying to keep him calm, no jumping, etc... worried about his left knee cause it seems to be loose lately.  And if I try and hold him, it gets him even more excited and it's time to play bucking bronco and really go crazy.

The heck with it, I crated him the last two nights at bed time, he got that crazy-eyed look and into the crate  :-\  I love it when they get crazy like that though, and was just telling melissa tonight, I really wish I could let him rip around and be crazy...I just don't want him blowing his ACL.

LOL!  well since i have only one large breed in the house along with 3 little poodles, there is not a great deal of playing going on with each other.  hugo used to want to get fired up when things were settling down.  he would try his best to get us to play tug or fetch.  since he has grown up a bit, he is not quite as intent on getting us to play.  now i can fire him up in 2 seconds flat for play, but at night he is told to "settle!" or "park it!".  usually i will lay on the couch and he lays with me unless he gets too hot.  also i try to save bones or pig ears for later in the evening so the dogs can concentrate on chewing.

Yea i tried the bone thing for a while and the dogs played a game on who can throw it the farthest.  I had a lamp broken so now we save bones for crates and outside.  Well everyone is pretty good about settling down especially Winston ( but that is just because he is mommy's boy ;) ) But we just recently got a wiem pup like three weeks ago so my oldest and her decide that it is playtime.

LOL!  yeh thats not a good way to settle down, lol!  not that you want them to get riled up but the best thing that will get hugo riled up for play is bubbles or lazer pointers.  its so  funny.  but i gotta move the floor rugs or they get piled up against the wall.
