Darling Husband and I just got back from our 'dog trip' to celebrate Chester's first birthday (& Valentine's Day!!
). We went to an adorable little beach town, Cambria, on the Central Calif. coast. There's a wonderful boardwalk that skirts the top of the cliffs so you can see the ocean, and as long as your dog's on a lead, he's welcome. DH had Chester and I was walking Cowboy (a big Newf) and a man comes up behind me and comments on how much pain Cowboy must be in and he hoped I had him on Rimadyl. Now, Cowboy has had a lot of health issues, doncha know, but, luckily, hip problems is one bullet he's missed (whew!!!). I tried, politely, to point out that that rolling gait is typical for a Newf. They all walk that way....with sort of a swish to the rear end. He reassured me that since HE had orthopedic problems (he walked VERY stiffly) he could recognize it in all other animals! Amazing, huh!!! Guess it's just another one for the dumb comment book!
Anyway, we had a great time.....and Chester learned to howl! He did NOT like being confined to a hotel room! It was lucky it was in the late afternoon when he couldn't distrub anybody!
