We went to visit the kennel we’re most likely taking Kate to while we’re in PEI this summer. It’s called “The Country Club Pet Resort”, and WOW – we were quite happy with it. Every dog we saw looked happy, not stressed.

It’s the kennel with the best reputation here by far, and everyone we met knew a lot about giant breeds, which impressed us.

They’ve been in business for 50+ years. There’s one more we’re taking a look at next weekend that was recommended to us.
The rooms aren’t very big, but they are air conditioned and have a dog door leading to an outside run (which is quite big), and it’s covered so will always be shady (with a Leo, shade sure is important)!
Of course we will bring Kate’s own food. No personal stuff is allowed (toys, beds, etc.) in order to prevent any disease. We asked and aren’t allowed to bring Kate’s raw bones for her, but I suppose this will be fine as she’ll be too tired after playing with other dogs to worry about her treats.

One of the ladies giving us the tour said that the dogs are up around 8am, and when they go to bed at 7pm, they do not make a sound the rest of the night cause they’re so tired (except when they go out to do their business of course)!

Daily activities include swimming in the pool with a friend (during summer), one-on-one personal attention with their keeper twice daily, and exercise with a friend in a romping corral twice daily. They also get one of the following every day: exercise in the off-leash park (with a friend); or a walk around the entire resort (on-leash) with a friend. They said they will be having a female Berner pup staying the same time as Kate, and if they get along during introduction, they will most likely be resort “friends” (during activities) the entire time. Aw!

As hard as it will be to leave Kate (yes – I’ll be balling my face off), we really think she’ll have a good time, and that she’ll learn a lot during her stay.

Oh, and the security within the resort is quite impressive too!
