I am having a friend Crochet a hat with the yarn.  VIP Fibers wanted to charge me $120 to spin the fur and knit a hat.  That was more money than I wanted to spend and my friend will crochet the hat for free.  So it will be $70 to get the yarn made, still not cheap but where else would I be able to get Drake's fur spun into yarn.  I'm willing to spend $70 for that.

 The hat will be amazing..well worth $70. IMO
I wish Farley had longer hair..the colour would be really unique.

We had VIP spin up some Pyr hair and then a friend knitted pochos  They are absolutely gorgeous and look and feel like mohair!

Is Drake's fur soft?  Did you take just the undercoat?  I can't wait to see it!  I love the whole idea!!!

Well...  if you take the time to collect just the undercoat of your Newf, according to Victoria at VIP Fibers, the yarn and finished product is as soft as Cashmire.  BUT...  if you just send in the outer coat, it will still be pretty soft, but it will be much more durable and a bit more water resistant.  Since this will be a hat for skiing and activities, I'd rather have the strong, durable stuff than the soft stuff.  It won't get that "halo" look quite as fast either.  I can't wait to see my finished hat either.  I've gotten a lot of flack from my friends and family about it but I don't care.
