Starla chews her pawz...????
« on: June 05, 2006, 05:05:51 pm »
 ??? ??? ???

We're not really worried but wondered if any of your guys Saints have a habbit of lightly chewing on their front paws... its almost like a person who bites their nials, she'll just look at you with a paw in her mouth... if you call her or distract her, she forgets about the paw and goes on with her daily routine, but when shes board or something, she eats her paw!!!  Its actually pretty funny now that I'm writing it!!!

Anyways, here are a few up to date photos of our "little" starla who's exactly 10 months today and weighs about 85 lbs.

She's been going to school for almost 4 months and is getting very smart, but we still have our days where shes the boss and nothing can change that!!!

What a cutie!  She may have allergies....L acey has them and chews her feet raw.  You can try a medicated shampoo on her feet and see if that helps. Your vet should be able to prescribe an antibiotic cream for it too.

I would talk to your vet...It could be hot spots from allergies, but it could be something else. It also might not be a problem at all - Zoey's 'cousin' Boo chews his nails as a way of grooming himself

First off, beautiful Saint.  :)
Bear chews his front paws regularly, and more-so when he has an ear infection.  :-\ He seems to focus on the left paw. Vet says it's general allergies (mostly happens in spring and fall), so we give him yogurt with his kibble and it seems to help.  :) He hasn't chewed them raw, but they get red and tender-looking.  Doesn't seem to bother him though.  ::)

FYI, my other Saint doesn't do it at all.

Good luck!
