my dog will be 12 in october, he eats meat (sheep or cow liver, lungs, boiled in a sort of soup, with carots etc), but lately he ate only chicken and soft stuff, cos of his teeth... the pedigree and other brands of cans he rejected, and solid pedigree he can't chew anymore...

as for the thing near his butt, mom said she asked a vet and it seemed to be a swollen perianal gland, due to problems of defecating (he gets constipated a lot)...

Where does the dog live? 

It would sound to me like he's not getting enough fiber as with the constipation problem but it could be other things...Kidne y issues, liver issues, etc.  The swollen gland will cause it's own set of problems and needs to be seen to asap. 

We would love to help but we'll need a little more info.  12 isn't all that old but it is getting up there in years.
