It’s Kelly – Why I’ve Been MIA!
« on: September 19, 2007, 07:25:25 pm »
Here’s my story, hope it doesn’t gross anyone out too much! :P :P :P

Some of you saw my posts following Blake’s delivery regarding me being a bit beat-up after delivering. I broke my tailbone and was just taking longer to recover than most, not a huge deal or anything. Well, all of a sudden going to the bathroom became a huge event for me, and one I wanted to avoid. I passed out on the toilet, twice. The pain associated with it was unbearable…and it got to the point that I was afraid to go at home alone, for fear I’d pass out again (and wouldn’t want Blake to be alone should I stay passed out for minutes/hours/whatever)… :-\

I went to my doctor numerous times, he thought it was just severe hemmoroids. Well, I finally went to see a specialist and got a proper diagnosis. In English (medical terms and I don’t mix)…I pushed so hard during delivery that I pretty much blew apart my whole bowel/anus/you get the picture! It was as if someone had put a live grenade up there…Needless to say I was put on the immediate surgery list and went in for reconstructive surgery last Friday… ::)

The recovery time is 1 month or so. I am in ridiculous amounts of pain daily, but I will get through this. I’m not writing this post to receive pity either, I’m doing it so you all know where I’ve been…cause I miss you all! It just comes down to how I feel on certain days. Today I was able to sit on the computer chair for a bit…tomorrow I may not be able to.  :-X

I am just hopeful that one day I will be feeling better, for now going to the washroom is h*ll. I shake/sweat/lose my breath but keep thinking “it will get better, it will get better”. I am so sick of being trapped in the house, but until I’m better, I have to be. I couldn’t imagine being out somewhere and having to “go”. I just couldn’t do it anywhere but home (not to mention I’d probably scare away people wanting to use a public bathroom)!!! I think Blake is bored of being home all the time too… I used to take him out here & there and he loved it. Hopefully, soon, we’ll get there again. For now we go on a walk each evening with Eric & Kate. Not far or long, but regardless – it’s out of the house and something I look forward to daily! ;D

So that’s my story. I hope everyone is doing great! Blake is doing wonderful, he’s growing like crazy, I’ll post pictures when I can. He is cooing and smiling all the time, it’s the best! Kate is doing good too, she is being extra lazy these days (I suppose she doesn’t have any other choice though) and loves her baby bro! ;) ;) ;)

The things we go through for our kids, hey?! Having said that though, I’d do it all over again if I had to, cause there’s nothing better in our lives than Blake. He is sooooooooooooo worth it!

Talk soon,
Kelly

Dang Kelly. I'm glad you had the surgery and everything went well. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery for you! You sound like you are really coping well. You're so strong! I'm proud of you!

Can't wait to see pics of Blake!

Oh Kelly,

I have never heard of anything like that - what a strong pusher you must be!!   What your going thru sounds like agony and to have to take care of Blake at the same time; Wow!!  I broke my foot when my son was an infant and that was a total pain!!

And by the way you sooooo deserve our pity - having and adjusting to a baby (even one you LOVE some much) is an adjustment and to add this on top just isn't fun.

Hoping your recovery goes very quickly and you and your new and improved family can get out together ASAP!

Kelly - My husband walked in the room while I was reading your post and asked "what's wrong?" -- I was horrified by your story and my face showed it! I think the word "grenade" and the associated visual did it.  ::)  Very effective!  You sound incredibly strong and in great spirits - that's more than half the battle.  Look forward to seeing baby pics soon.  Here's to rapid healing!   :)

Owwwwwwww, Kelly!!!  :(   :o  I can't imagine what you've been going through!  From my first delivery I had a "bent tailbone" and my friend from Lamaze had a "3rd degree tear" (I won't elaborate, but it sounded really painful, too) and I thought that those were bad, but what you have sounds much, much more painful.  You are one strong lady to be dealing with all of this and all of the usual fatigue & stuff from being a new mom all at the same time.  Whew, my hat's off to you!  I hope that the surgery is sucessful and heals quickly, so that you are feeling comfortable & back to normal soon.

BTW, you and your mom have been on my mind lately.  I hope that everything is going well with her.  We've had my Dad in town all summer (they live 2 states away).  He's going back home on Sunday, but he may be moving here permanently pretty soon.

OMG! That sounds just awful! Ok, I know you're not looking for pity, but it's not reasonable to tell that story and not expect to get any!! That is totally beyond the realm of "difficult delivery". I have never heard anything like that. Your pics look beautiful, so you must be being a real trooper and a great sport. I'm sure Blake makes it all worth it, but I'm sure that story would make some poor girl with no kids go running screaming, and swearing she would adopt!!

I'm going to agree with this statement with one exception I don't think I'll be adopting.  I'm much better as an auntie.

I was going to send you big hugs Kelly but I'm afraid even sending a big hug might squeeze the stuffins out of you so I'll send big  :-* instead!  Lots of healing vibes for you to get well soon.

Well for everyone who doesn't read MacLeans (it may be CDN?) a woman in India will have your baby for $4000, helps the economy and saves you the pain ;) I hope you feel better soon Kelly.
