I went to see my five week old nephew this weekend in Maryland. My brother and his wife have 3 dogs, a Rotti and two lab mixes (and 2 cats). They have always called the dogs stuffed toys their babies. They will tell the dogs to 'Go get your baby', 'Bring me your baby' etc. Well, when the dogs shake the toys or throw them around they always used to say 'Kill your baby'. They started thinking twice about that one when they realized they call Sam (my nephew) 'The baby'. The dogs have never hurt him and I don't think they ever will. My brother and sister in law are careful and smart. Sam definately gets his share of dog kisses which sometimes he likes but other times make him mad. I did make sure to greet the dogs first when I came in (I like to think they remember me even though I only see them 3 times a year). They are the first babies in the family and will always be big babies.
