embedded collar question
« on: December 04, 2006, 10:00:52 am »
sheeba, our fattest and smallest dog / mutt, squeals every time you grab her collar.  it doesn't matter if you're pulling her somewhere or pushing her off of you, she yelps SO loud.  she also has a little fat roll around the bottom of her neck.  does anyone know if this is typical of a dog who at one point in time had an embedded collar??

thanks!  i think i'm going to try the "grab tab."  sheeba is a pound puppy, we just got her a year ago the 31st of this month.  they found her as a stray, her ears are all ate up from flies, so we're not sure what happened to her before she got there.  i know she used to hide and scream for no reason though.  her neck doesn't feel like scar tissue, it's pretty fatty, just really loose.  thanks again!

Lucah would do this at first...it seemed to bother him to be pulled.  After some treat training he would follow and wouldn't resist the pulling. I guess he got it in his head that if he is being tugged somewhere then it wasn't bad.

With the trama she associates with the collar...you might try a harness instead. There's a couple of harnesses out there that have a "handle" that you can grab that works just like a short leash. Just a thought...
