Camping with Samson...advise needed!

We will be going on our annual camping trip atr the end of this month...I would seriously sooner gouge out my own eyes with a dull spoon than to leave Samson at a kennel or a pet sitter...I am already the lone tent camper as the cabin that was rented doesn't allow dogs...It will be hot I assume so can I please get some advise on keeping Samson cool & happy?
