Weird problem: Incestuous Deep-Throated Doggie Kissing

No, this isn't spam for porn.  It's actually something that's been happening with my mom's 2 dogs - an older Golden Lab/Chow mix named Lizzie and a younger Rottweiler mix named Rookie.  An older woman.  A younger man.  Oh, the forbidden love.

Anyway, the two of them have been playful and friendly since the day I brought Rookie home in 2002 (as is evidenced in the following picture):



But, here in the past few months, it's gotten just a little bit absurd.  The two of them will be inside playing with eachother, when suddenly they stop and go into an open-jawed, esophagus-tickling french kiss; their tongues rattling back and forth like two tongues on a see-saw.  This lasts for several awkward moments. 

Both dogs have been 'fixed', so that's not an issue.  Normally I wouldn't even bring it up, but the more I see it, the less it remains "funny" or "cute".  Now, I see it as "disgusting" and "a reason for jealousy".

Any ideas?

No ideas what so ever... but oh that is some funny stuff!  I actually burst out laughing while waiting for my car to get its $600.00 "oil change"... and by the price tag of said "oil change"... you can tell I need a good laugh so I thank you for that!

As for the "tonsil hockey" going on at your house, maybe Lizzie and Rookie are in looooooooove.. .lol

I hate to tell ya, but $600 is a bit pricey for an oil change.  I would've done it for you at $595.

Maybe Rookie wants to be a dentist - or he's been watching too much National Geographic and thinks he's one of those birds that pick the teeth of crocodiles for leftovers.

Or, maybe you shouldn't let the dogs stay in the room with you when you're watching your naughty movies!

Hahahaha!  This is so hilarious I'm gonna record it up close and personal for all of you to see - then I'll make sure you watch it over and over again in super duper slow-motion with multiple camera angles, so then maybe you'll realize why I need a straight answer!

Hahahahaahah! Bubba and Lola do that occasionally. I'll glance over to see them shoving their tongues down each others throat. LOL I don't know why they do it either.

My three do this on occassion (like every night).  I think it's a social thing in the pack.  Generally with wolf pups and sub-adults they will like the muzzle of the higher ranking animals.  For pups it stimulates the adults to regurge the food in their stomachs but I think it turns to a social behavior later on.  Kind of like mutual grooming in apes it helps solidify familial bonds.  Just a thought otherwise their just all pervs.

I have no idea why they'd be doing that - although occasionally Barkley and Sheba used to lock lips.  Just no tonsil hockey like your two.

By the "playful friendly" look of them in the picture, I'd say let them keep kissing.  Just tell them to get a room first

my mom's chihuahua's do this (and it's two boys, 11 and 7 y/o  ) and also scout and diesel do it (and they're RELATED ewe!) i'm not really sure why, but it just seems like their way of playing.   it's probably a two way street, they prob think we've lost it when they see us doing things like pull "cooked" food out the oven / microwave...  that just RUINS the food ha ha.

Well,I could offer one possible explaination,it has been a long time since I had any that did this,and I have to agree with you that it can get pretty XXX rated.

The last time believe it or not one of the dogs had somthing stuck in a back tooth,and it was bothering him and the other one once the smell got to him was interested I guess.

So you might want to ckeck out the both of them and their teeth/gums, and see if anything might be brewing in there.

But otherwise *it's a dog thing*and if you don't want them to do it tell them to stop.

I know easier said than done.
