Fear of Dremel
« on: April 06, 2007, 03:13:06 am »
Any suggestions in how to get my 2 big chicken Danes to not be afraid of the dremel?  I have tried treats, just keeping it out and around all of the time.  They act like it is something awful and I haven't even turned it on yet.  Their nails are so long and the vet won't trim them because they act so bad!!!  So any suggestions would be great.

This is a really good question, I hope someone can come along and give some advice on this.  Koby HATES the dremel, we've tried it and he freaks out!  It took us a long time to get him comfortable with just clipping his nails.  We'd touch his paws/give treats and we walk him daily so nails scratching on the concrete helps some.  I'd like to know what others do to get their dogs used to the dremel though, after clipping Koby's nails they're always really sharp!
