UGH Harry Potter!!
« on: July 12, 2007, 12:33:18 pm »
So before I start my ranting I would like to inform you all that I am a hardcore Harry Potter fan and simply ADORE Daniel Radcliffe, in fact I plan on marrying him.

Hookay! So I was very excited about this movie, I even read the book in the past two days before seeing it(probably my biggest mistake). I seriously was ready to walk out before Harry even got to Hogwarts. They rushed through the beginning, middle, AND end. Did you people know about Mundungas? No probably not, he wasn't in the movie! What about the two way mirror for Sirius and Harry? Didn't think so! Why did they have to destroy all of my hopes and dreams for this movie!?  :'(
With that I'm going to go finish eating my sandwich and B**ch at my guy friend who made the mistake of talking to me right now.

Anyways who's excited for the 7 book? I know I am I bought it at least 6 months in advance!

LMAO!! I saw the movie tonight,..I really liked it, but I haven't read the books. I was planning on going and buying them and reading them AFTER each movie...that way I can enjoy the movie, but then read the book and get the details left out. This movie did seem to be a bit lacking in story, not as many details etc. But I still liked it

But, then the movie came on the TV so i watched it. and i really liked it. i DONT read, and so i have no interest in the books... *kinda dyslexic* anyway- i went to the show to see the other movies, and tomorrow, darcy and i are taking my little cousins out of town to see it (our local theater is sh!t) so, im hoping its a good one :)

We are Potter fans as well, by we I mean my son and I.
My son is mentally disabled so we skipped by the books(since he can't read) and got them all on tape. They have been wonderful.I will have to wait to order the next (and last) on tape since it is so expensive at present
We will probably make it to the movie next week.Hoping the crowds will go down a bit.

I am hoping that it is good.sounds like they left out too much this time.

We are huge HP fans as well...We have read all the books..as a matter of fact we always buy two because my daughter doesnt read as fast as my son and myself....and she will always hide the book when shes not reading because she doesnt want us to tell her anything..haha ...so I just buy 2 and me and my son share that one...I agree with Tina I think it was...If they followed the books the movies would be 7 hours long...So put that into prospective and you will love the movies!  I plan on seeing it again next week since I kind of slept through it the first time...haha... But we are going to a Harry Potter party the night before the book comes out...They are having a huge party at Town Lake in Mckinney...The re are games (Hogwarts games)...food and fun...Then at midnight the books arrive by Police escort...haha. ..We are so excited!  I think it will be a blast!!  Sorry for the long post but I guess my point is ...theres hardly anything that beats a good book!!

I am perpetually dissappointed in movies when I have read the book beforehand so I feel your pain.
There is just no hollywood substitute for the wonders that you can conjure in your mind.
Stella

I agree with Stella. I have not seen the movie yet but I have read all the books up until now.

A lot of people don't realize that there's some things Hollywood just can't do. How many of you are willing to sit through a 7 hour movie? They can't add in ALL of the details. If you haven't ever been on set or around movie making it's hard to see things from the other side. There where A LOT of things I didn't know about movie making until I was an extra for the Ring 2. Like for example the fact that it took us 3 days to get a not even 5 minute scene for the movie.

I'm in love with the author Terry Goodkind. He's got a 10 going on 11 (without the short prequal) book fantasy series out (Sword of Truth series) that I would LOVE to see made into a movie or movies but I know that I'd be dissapointed because they'd have to leave out sooo much.

I'll tell you more of what I think later (possibly going to see it in a few hours.)

I haven't read any of the books, but the movies have been good!  I'm sorry you were so disappointed Megan.  I think I'd absolutely love reading the books, but I have a problem with starting a book and having to read the whole thing in one sitting, that probably wouldn't be a good thing, nothing would get done around here! hahahaha

Oh I wasn't upset as I sounded, honest! :P

I would however sit through 7 hours of perfect straight from the book HP movies. Seriously how could would that be?!

I thought over all that it was a pretty good movie...they did leave out a few things...but then I don't think I've seen a movie that's based on a book that hasn't.

The CGI is amazing though... look at those graphics :o haha ok now I sound nerdy!

I went and saw it and I loved it.  I have all the books and have loved them all.  I have to admit that I'm in love with Fred and George.

I'm sorry that you didn't like it!!  I did like it.  True though there wasn't as much action.  I LOVED Bellatrix, she played that role (as little as she was there) fabulously!!  I love her facial expressions and she's got those BIG eyes!!  I immediately disliked Umbridge!!  The lady that played her was great too!  That smile, and those giggles, I wanted to reach through the screen and slap her!  Luna was good too, I loved the far away look she had!!

OMG SO Excited for The Deathly Hallows!!! lol I haven't been on here because I've been reading the whole series!!! It's taken me about 6 days, and I'm finally on Half-Blood Prince(6th) lol I almost never like the movies because I LOVE the books, and imagine them so differently. I hated, and I mean hated Mad-Eye Moody in the last movie, that's not how I pictured him at all! So I feel your pain. I'm such a nerd when it comes to HP I must admit that when the craze started, I too wasn't taken at first, but once I got into the books, I was hooked! I'm a lover of literature and I can't read anything that isn't grammatically advanced so to speak (I'm weird, I like grammar, don't ask ;D) and I am continually amazed at JK Rowling's ability to write, she is genius. I don't plan on going to see the 5th movie until I've finished the 7th book. I'm excited to see the movie, I wanted to throttle Umbridge in the book ( it would be so fun to play that role! lol) I think at one point I actually yelled at her the first time I read it lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks back to the books (you'll talk back to the screen when you see Umbridge!)!!  I still have the imagination that I did when I was a kid!!  So I dive into the books.  Trust me, you are not alone in being a HP nerd!!
