Welcome to the group.  Molly is a cutie.

I would have to agree about the food.  Also, I don't think cheese is a good idea.

Hope you find this site as helpful as I do.  The people are great and the information excellent.

Hi,

Molly is a doll. Winslow is also a Cheese lover. He gets grated cheese on his meals also, he is now 2 and has no problems so if cheese works I'd say stick with it. I also add some canned fish usually mackeral or Salmon in his evening meal and he gets some oatmeal with his breakfast.

I would suggest you look into a better Kibble I feed Canidea, but there are plenty of good ones out there!!

Rich and Winslow.

Hi and welcome to BPO!  You came to right spot to get information about your new pupper!  Congratulation s on your new baby!  I was newly newfed about 3 1/2 months ago.  My girl is 5 1/2 months old and she is my first Newfoundland, so I can only share what I've learned so far.

It's never too early to start obedience training.  Sierra was 10 weeks old when we got her.  We started out light and she learned to sit within a week.

Be prepared to vacuum often. When she starts to shed, puppy hair will coat your carpets on a daily basis, but will refuse to come out with a slicker brush.

Provide lots of chew toys!

Most importantly, just provide lots of love.  Your Newfie will want to please you and love you more than anything else.  Sierra's worst punishment would be for me to withhold affection even for 5 minutes.

My personal opinion about the cheese is it's not a good idea.  I would be worried it wasn't good for little puppy stomachs.  But if you haven't had any problems, than I guess it's ok.

Hi & Welcome!!
Congrates on getting Molly, she is adorable!!
I too would be careful feeding cheese..
i feed Eaglepak and when storm was being fussy with that  would cook up a vege soup and pour a little over the top or I use a can of eaglpack puppy food and water it down to make a gravy and pop that over the kibble..
Agrees with Newly Newfed give her lots of loves and start training early and yup lots of toys!!!!
Good luck and enjoy your baby girl!!!YUP WE NEED MORE PICS!!

Welcome to the boards.  I don't have a newfie but I can definitely appreciate how cute Molly is.  My crew is listed below.

Shiner - Malinois x Ridgeback
Toulouse, Cayenne, Raven - DSH

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, the Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off. We apologize for the inconvenience

Welcome to BPO! I'm Kristine, mom to Rosie our 4 year-old Newf.

Just like the others before have said, I'd be weary about the shredded cheese supplements. You never know what will upset your dog's stomach. If plain old kibble isn't attractive enough for Molly, adding some bland boiled vegetables like peas or chopped green beans might be better (less in calories and doesn't have the additives that processed foods like cheese do). For supplements, we add some fish oil (for her coat), vitamin C (for general urinary health), and glucosamine and chondroitin (for her bones) to her food as well. Rosie's on a special urinary veterinary diet, so I can't make any recommendation s on the usual kibble.

Grooming - Get at least a shedding rake, a comb, and a fine-bristled brush. We brush at least every other day to keep those nasty mats from getting out of control. It also keeps her cleaner longer and you might get away with bathing Molly less often.

Training - We got Rosie when she was 3 and so she was trained in the basics already. But like others have said, training while she's a young pup even at 4 or 5 months would be good. Having that positive control and being able to recall them after basic training is important.

your breeder should have specified a diet and laid down guidlines for you on feeding care and exersise and grooming.
if they did not
ARRGGGGGGGGGGG GG
newfs grow in different rates dependant on lines.
the SLOWER THE GROWTH THE BETTER!!!!
low protein as mentioned by others is the best food.
or bravo raw or omahs pride raw food.
do not feed high protein!
