It's a girl thing...
« on: July 31, 2007, 07:51:20 pm »
I've called my vet about this already but have to wait for a call back from her...  Since I am an instant gratification kind of girl, I figured I'd ask you guys while I wait.

When can I expect Sierra to go into her first heat?

Yup that sounds about right. Merri was 13 months when she had her first heat.

Lola went into heat 4 days after her first birthday. It was the worse 22 days of my life. LOL It won't be happening again.. that's for sure.

Who needs to wait for the vet to call back when I can get six responses in 10 minutes on BPO!!!  LOL!

I thought my Huskies usually were around 6-9 mos.  Apparently, I'm not remembering correctly!! I was wondering because Sierra is allowed to run loose while we are outside and our Lab isn't neutered and...well...y ou get it!  Hubby does not want to get Magic fixed...maybe it's a guy thing...and we want to see if Sierra has any showing potential before we spay her....

Just heard from the vet.  She said anytime after 5 mos old.  My girl is six months so we'll be checking... everyday for who knows how many months til it happens.  I did get some info that might sway hubby to fix Magic.  "guy thing" or not, he doesn't want anything to happen to Magic.  I was concerned about getting him fixed at 7 yrs old, but vet said it would be beneficial for him because it will cut the risk of him developing prostate cancer.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see...  Thanks for your help everybody!!
