Author Topic: My Poor Zero updated aug 11 (Read 10644 times)

Alot of you don't know, but some of you do, know the troubles we've been having with Zero. He and Memphis will fight and so we have them perminately separated in our home with gates and other things. Well, lately Zero just sees Memphis through the gate and he goes nuts. Memphis ALWAYS lets out a huge grumble and than Zero will attack the gate... Zero cut his foot open the other day with trying to jump on the gate to reach at memphis. Now, im not saying its ALL Zero. Memphis will also, put his head over the gate and start taunting Zero, by growling and barking. they hate each other, plain and simple! Well, its gotten to the point we have to even block access to the gate, because we are afraid that zero will hurt himself trying to get over the gate. So Thursday Zero is going in to be neutered, and im freaking out. because he has an arithmea... And if this doesnt help him, we are going to think over the options of rehoming Zero or putting him down. Please keep zero in your thoughts for Thursday...

Ah that is a real shame for both Zero and Memphis. But it's not unusal. Is Memphis in tact? I hope having Zero neutered does the job and they can live together. It's never easy giving up a pet. My thoughts are with you and keep us posted.

I had no idea that all this was going on!! I hope that you can get some relief. Is Zero only like that with males? I am not familiar with the breed, but are the males typically not tolerant of other males?

Awww, that sucks! I had no idea! How old are Zero and Memphis? Who is newer? Have they always had problems with each other or is it a new development? Wow, that is just too heartbreaking. Keep us posted...

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. When zero goes into a mood, the only way to stop him is by pulling him away from his position (near the gate) and putting him in his kennel to calm down. We have taken him to Obedience classes, and i Really prefer not to take zero. His behavior is not very good in public, near children, etc.

Zero is Like this with memphis, and a select few males. he was good with my moms doberman. Not with my aunts Heinz 57.
Memphis is now 4 years old, zero is 3. we have had both boys as wee baby puppies. they had their first fight when we moved back to Cobalt, from the other house we were in... After Zeus *our dane* crossed the bridge. it wasnt a bad fight. and they were fine after wards. a few months later, they faught again. the same thing.... a few months after, a bad fight broke out, and memphis almost took zeros eye out, and zero had left memphis' leg very swollen. we seperated them. months later, JIGSAW knocked the barrier down, and zero went in the room memphis was in... i got down stairs just in time to see zero lunge on memphis' leg. Memphis took zero by the head, shook... almost taking zeros ear off. zero let go. we got a stronger gate..... So far- no fights in 6 months...

Wow I'm so sorry your having problems between them! I have a friend that had three hybrid wolves and it sounds like what happened with the Alpha crossed the bridge. The other two remaining were fighting over who was now the Alpha.

WOW..It is amazing how some dogs get along and some don't. I hop e everything works out. You know how much I love Zero!!!

Maybe a behaviorist can come in and help the dogs establish a pack order or something? It sounds like a sad and scary situation, to have your pets at each other like that. Poor pups and poor you!

Well, Darcy has taken Zero into the vet clinic... Im waiting on the phone call to make sure he is alright. i said to darcy this am, before he left "Call me AS SOON AS hes out of surgery". Stressing mum here!!!! LOL Darcy does most of the helping with the procedure, so after everything is good and clear, i will be very happy. But its 10:39, he left at 730.... soooo No call yet... I hope that its soon. Darcy will also trim zeros nails while hes out. so im happy about that. but still stressing.
Thanks for all the words & advice, i will let you all know how zero is as soon as darcy calls me

I just got a call from darcy. they are Just about to sedate zero... Oohhhh boy oh boy, am i ever shaking. my poor zero... lol Darcy was just calling to tell me that, and ask about if i want zero tattooed... YES OF COURSE. anyways. major stress has just hit because i really didnt want to do this... but, its best for him...

Darcy just called... Zeros neutered... Hes not fully awake yet. They had to give him emergency treatment, he almost crashed. his heart rate dropped to 50... but they caught it, and hes doing better... But not in the clear just yet...
