Isn't it ridiculous!!! I can't believe they've suspended him! He saved Cyrus' life, and he's being punished! It irks me, I wish I could have gone to the protest today.

Poor guy, all he was trying to do was save the dog and now look what happened, he's in trouble. Hopefully all will work out in the end, I also think it would be kinda cool to see him be the one to adopt "cyrus".

I agree this is outrageous, but I do also see the dog's owner's side, not that I agree with it.  As the one article said, he was a sitting duck handcuffed to the car with no officials there to protect him from angry bystanders.  I realize Tre Smith made a difficult decision and in my opinion, it was the right decision, but a valid argument can be made that he potentially put the man's life in danger by restraining him and leaving him to the wolves, so to speak.  Even though his job is to do everything in his power to save the life of an animal, which is exactly what he did, it could very well come down to deciding if protecting the life of a human is more important than saving the life of a dog.  I don't forsee a good outcome for Tre Smith.  Luckily, Cyrus has gotten so much attention I'm sure he will have no problem finding a loving, forever home and be spoiled for the rest of his life.  As it should be   :)

well there's a good lesson to be learned out of all of this.... dont leave your dog trapped in 130+ heat, and a mob of angry ppl wont pummel you! >:(

This is outrageous!   >:(  >:(  The poor dog was unresponsive and his horrible "owner" was being abusive, so what was this HS Inspector supposed to do differently?  It's clear to me that he made the right decision by saving an innocent life while restraining a dangerous person.  I hope that the HS listens to the public outcry, realises their mistake and reinstates this man.  It's rare to find someone that cares so much for their job and can make tough decisions so quickly while under such stressful conditions.  He's a hero in my book!

There is a new update from Ontario SPCA that replaces the earlier update, giving more explanation about the suspension
