I agree this is outrageous, but I do also see the dog's owner's side, not that I agree with it. As the one article said, he was a sitting duck handcuffed to the car with no officials there to protect him from angry bystanders. I realize Tre Smith made a difficult decision and in my opinion, it was the right decision, but a valid argument can be made that he potentially put the man's life in danger by restraining him and leaving him to the wolves, so to speak. Even though his job is to do everything in his power to save the life of an animal, which is exactly what he did, it could very well come down to deciding if protecting the life of a human is more important than saving the life of a dog. I don't forsee a good outcome for Tre Smith. Luckily, Cyrus has gotten so much attention I'm sure he will have no problem finding a loving, forever home and be spoiled for the rest of his life.
