Downeast Dog Scouts First Meeting for Cirra's Troop

We had our first Downeast Dog Scouts meeting today.  There were 23 adults, 3 children and 15 dogs.  We thought that was a great turn out for our area - actually any area.  During October we have a 3 mile walk/hike planned in Acadia National Park with a lunch meeting after the walk. We will have table at the "Canine Carnival" for Responsible Dog Owners Day in September and a table at a local kennel for their "Pet Appreciation Day" in October.   Our plan is to offer at least one structured activity each month.  Also, we are planning on submitting an article about being a responsible canine guardian to the local papers for Responsible Dog Ownership Day.  It seems as though we are off to a great start.

Cirra is the luckiest girl in the world  and you & Denise are my heros. I think you guys are so awesome to start your own troop and actually do stuff with others instead of making it just work with no play. Way to go! And 4 big paws up from Bear.

Uhhh......we don't have too many pics of the meeting, some but not many.  It was mostly informational to gauge the interest of the community and get the Dog Scouts info out there in a structured fashion.  Soon to have more fun!!!  The dogs were great but were very bored today.  Cirra, of course, still thought it was a party!  She made new friends as always.  We'll try to post some pics tomorrow, OK?

Congrats on your huge turn out.  I know you didn't think you would get much interest at first.  Sounds like y'all are going to have a wonderful time and group.

I envy you!  How fun, I wish that we had something like that around here. I'm looking into 4-H (dogs & cats) for our kids this fall, but Dog Scouts sounds like a great idea.  I'm looking forward to the pics.

It looks like everyone had a great time.    I just know that Cirra is going to have a good time in Dog Scouts and really expand her fan club at the same time!  She's gorgeous, please give her a big hug for me.
