Rosie and the Cone
« on: September 30, 2007, 11:38:45 pm »
Rosie's bandage that was covering her knee (from TPLO surgery) was removed last Friday. As a result, Rosie acquired a new accessory; a cone, to keep her from messing with her incisions. We actually made this one, from a plastic trash bin and some zip ties.

It only lasted for two days. After that, Rosie wasn't having ANY of it. She had her revenge at night, when she'd wake up every 3 hours to try removing the cone from her head, and also promptly wake us up.

Awww, she looks so sad I just wanna kiss her pretty face.  :-*   Rosie's expression reminds me of Cara, our first Pyr, when she had to wear a cone.  She was so sad & dejected looking and she'd give us "the look" that would make us feel so guilty for making her wear the horrible thing.  Then she'd go and stick her cone head (and nose) up against the wall to let us know how truly awful it was.  Poor babies, they just really hate the dang things.  :(  I really liked Rosie's stylish cone though, too bad she didn't agree.   ;)  ;D

Awww. Poor baby! She looks so sad. That is the cutest darn cone I have ever seen though!! How is she feeling?

I don't know if your more stylish one would work but my parents would reverse the cone.  So that it sat on the body sort of like a cape.  It served it's purpose but didn't seem to annoy as much.

Wow, I never thought of that! What a good idea!

How is she feeling?

We assume she's feeling better (doesn't it suck that they can't talk?). She's acting more like normal; begging for food, yearning for chin rubs and belly rubs. The swelling has also gone down on her knee and ankle area. She's been putting a little weight on her leg every now and then, but we're still assisting her using a sling to reduce the stress on her leg. We'll likely be going back to the vet in a week or so to remove her staples.
