BIG DOG???
« on: October 15, 2007, 07:18:55 pm »
Hello,

I am new to this board so I hope I posted in the right place. If not, place feel free to slam this post.

I have attached a picture of a large dog and I was just wondering if it is real.
Does anyone have a picture of the largest dog ever?? Some bizarro picture would be greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance,

MM

THe picture looks like it has been photo-shopped a bit.  A dog of those proportions would probably be over 300 lbs.  The picture is of an English Mastiff which can grow to a healthy (un-fat) size of up to 245-255 pounds.  Typically a good sized male is in the 195-230 pounds.

Ehhhh, I don't think so. The dog in that photo looks like a bullmastiff, not an English. I've googled my little fingers off and I can't find any evidence that the photo of the dog in the car is Zorba.

I found this, which seems to be the best thing I can find. This dog is clearly an OEM, whereas the one in the car is obviously a bullmastiff.

Not to get all CSI here but the woman is driving a crossover SUV  which did not gain promanence until the late 90's early 00's and is wearing a fleece jacket that unless you were an true outdoor goon (like myslef) you did not own until the very end of the 80's, most likely early 90's.  If Zorba reinged in the 80's I doubt a dog of his stature would have made it to the late 90's (although it would be awesome if he did)

Yeah, I had the same thoughts.

I really wasn't even able to find evidence that Zorba existed. I went to the Guinness Book of World Records site and everything. Weird.

I found this article http://www.dogsinthenews.com/stories/070415a.phpstating Hercules is the largest LIVING dog weighing in at 282 pounds. Also states "Zorba" is the largest dog EVER weighing in at 343 pounds at age 8.

I'm with Nicole I think it is a BM not a OEM, and shopped.

EEEEEEwwwww I'm sorry but that pic of Hercules and his owner is just plain gross and in~humane(IMO) you can go too extreme(with the help of drugs both in human and animal  :P)

WHICH IS WORSE? Not to feed your dog?
                Feed to much?

BOTH (IMO)
