I'm so sory! But tell yourself that she is happy and free now, and you gave her all the love, making her time with you the best. She was happy with you and that's the main thing.

I am so sorry to hear that Mabel passed on- she was a very lucky girl to have had you when it really mattered. You guys are in my thoughts.

Thanks, you guys.

Honestly, I kind of had this nagging feeling all day that it was Mabel's last. Stella, you are so right, and its the first thing I could actually say last night. For her to have taken that decision out of her hands was about the most loving and amazing thing she could have done. I'm so glad she was at home, with us, and not at the Emergency Clinic where its bright and there are people she doesn't know.

Its truly amazing how quickly you can fall in love. Especially when you are putting your heart and soul into trying to make someone feel better.

I hope this doesn't sound too weird to you guys, I guess I'm telling you this so that you understand the bond that Mark had with this girl. As she was dying...I knew she was going, Mark was still in denial/panic...he crouched down and tried to give her mouth to mouth...god. It was intense. I felt very bad for him, but so good that he was able to love her that much.

Does that sound weird?

Awww sweetheart, I am so, so sorry.  I agree with what everyone has said here.  You gave Mabel the best gift of all, a loving, stable home to spend the last months of her life.  What an awesome, incredible gift to give such a sweet girl.  Looks to me like she returned the favor, by making her own decision on when it was time to go.

Sending lots of hugs, kisses, and prayers your way.

Godspeed Mabel.

 :'(  :'(  :'(  I'm in tears here, too.  I completely understand what Mark did and I bet that's just one more thing that you love about him.  I just looked at the pics on the Mini Midwest Meet & Greet thread and she not only looked like a beautiful girl but also that she had the sweetest soul.  I'm so glad that you had the opportunity to be together, I'm just sorry that you didn't have longer.   :'(

I'm so sorry that your beautiful Mabel had to move on.  Everyone has said it but I will to - there was a reason that Mabel wound up with your family - she found such a wonderful love and she will take that with her as she travels on to meet the other members of the BPO family that are waiting.

Not to equate it with children - but my daugher is adopted and so many people say how lucky she is to have found us - but I have to say no we are the lucky ones.  And it reminds me of you guys and Mabel all around lucky to have found each other...sorry it was for such a short (although sweet) time.

Nicole, I'm so very sorry for the loss of your sweet Mabel  :'(

She was such a doll...I know her time with you was short, but you gave her more love than she probably could have ever asked for...and you cared for her sooooooooo much to try and do right by her...

She left you knowing she was loved, and she will always love you guys. I'm sure she's watching you from the bridge, and just waiting for that baby to arrive safe & sound  :-* :-* :-*

You take care of yourself  :-*

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
Author Unknown
When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see;
The sun will rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
Remembering how I'd lay my head
In your lap that special way.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me.
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name
And petted me with her hand.
She said my place was ready,
In Heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

But, as I turned to heel away,
A tear fell from my eye,
For all my life I never thought
That I would have to die.
I had so much to live for,
So many sits and downs to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.

I thought about our lives together,
I know you must be sad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.

Remember how I'd nudge your hand,
And poke you with my nose?
The frisbee I would gladly chase,
The bad guy, I'd "bark and hold".

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for awhile,
I'd wag my tail and kiss you,
Just so I could see you smile.

But, then I fully realized,
That this could never be;
For emptiness and memories
Will take the place of me.
And when I thought of treats and toys,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you and when I did,
My dog-heart filled with sorrow.

But then I walked through Heaven's gate,
And felt so much at home;
As God looked down and smiled at me,
From His beautiful golden throne.
He said, "This is eternity,
And now we welcome you,
Today your life on earth is past,
But here it starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last;
For you see, each days's the same day,
There's no longing for the past.
Now you have been so faithful,
So trusting, loyal and true;
Though there were times you did things,
You knew you shouldn't do.

But good dogs are forgiven,
And now at last you're free;
So won't you sit here by my side,
And wait right here with me?"
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart.
For every time you think of me,
I'm right there, in your heart.
