help, maggie our 2 yr old golden licks her paws until they are raw. i have tried everything the vet has suggested, such as, changed her food to WELLNESS NATURAL, spray bitter apple on them, she had steroids for 2 wks, i wipe them when we come in from our walk, i apply four paws paw guard nightly, and use a medicated shampoo on her paws, no relief.  i have notices lately that her nails seem to have dried blood on them at the nail bed. she doesnt seem to be in pain, but her paws are so raw. i am so concerned and upset. please help her.  maggiemay

Has your vet tried any allergy meds with her?  Lacey's feet were really bad due to her allergies and once we put her on meds her feet are all cleared up now...I'll have to look up the name of the meds we first had her on. We recently switched to one with the bonus side effect of calming the dog down for her fear aggression issue.  Good luck I hope her feet feel better soon.

What is she walking on?  I'd keep her off grass and other plants in case of an allergy to the plants or an irritation due to fertilizer or pesticides.

A space collar will let her paws heal.
