Epilepsy study for pure bred dogs
« on: April 02, 2005, 08:56:08 pm »
There is a study being run by a consortium of universities (University of Missouri, University of Minnesota, Ohio State and the Animal Trust in England to try to isolate the gene that causes epilepsy.  If you have a dog that has epilepsy and would be interested in participating in the study, the research team would love to have you join them.

The website has all the information on epilepsy, a forum to post questions and get support and forms for sending in samples.  Here's the info:

The ideal is to get family groups so that the genes can be tracked but they would also appreciate samples from single affected dogs.  The goal is to be able to predict, with a simple blood test, if a dog is a carrier or will come down with the disease later.
