Does Bodhi look like other Newfies??

I've noticed a few times when I've seen pics of other Newfies....inc luding some here, like Fumble and Bear...that Bodhi looks a little different.  It seems like his fur and ears are shorter and his face not quite as jowly and his lips not quite as saggy.  Is that because he is only 17 months old?  How long does it take Newfies to mature physically?  I think he is adorable just as he is....but am wondering if he will continue to change?

First of all Bodhi is so Newfy in every aspect. His ears and mouth are perfect and you should be glad he isn't extra jowly cuz your walls would never forgive you.  His age is does have a bit to due with the look though. I affectionately call it the "uglies" and most dogs go through it but will come out benefitting on the other side. The difference could also be due to color. Different colors bring very different personalities generally speaking ans the body features may apply here as well.

As for Bear & Fumble, they look so similar because our breeders are friends and they have one overlapping male ancestor which is why Eiren and I call them the twins.

Bodhi is an absolutely beautiful Newf.  Not all Newfs are saggy faced and jowly and they are still perfectly normal.  I guess it all depends on their breeding lines...

I used to worry about Sierra's looks too, though.  She has a very feminine head and face with shorter hair, and her lips are not very saggy either.  You wouldn't believe how many people ask me if she's just a long-haired black lab.  As Jaime said though, regarding her lips - lucky for me because she is very dry mouthed.  For a Newf that is!  She still gets us messy though!

LOL....the first picture of Bear in his 'Ugly Stage' looks alot like Bodhi in what we called his 'Electrocuted Stage'.....for awhile every hair on his head seemed to stand on end and he was so funny looking!

When we first brought him home he was in what my aunt called the 'Squeeze Stage'.....because he was "so damn cute you just want to pick him up and squeeze the stuffing out of him!"

Here are pics from both stages! The Fuzzhead/Electrocuted Stage pic is when he is about 6-7 months old....the Squeeze Stage pic is right after I brought him home, about 9 weeks old.  Oh how I love this board...a place where I can share so many pics of my baby....lol...

OH Bodhi is definatly a newf in all way shapes and forms, and the tounge hanging out the side of his mouth just screams it!! He is definatly just going through his "uglies" not that Im saying he's ugly in any way shape or form! I would love to snuggle with him!
And I have to agree with Jamie, the jowls and the walls fight constantly!
They just range in different shapes and sizes! Fumble is definalty a bigger newf with his dad being almost 210.
As soon as i find pictures of Fumble in his uglies ill post them, we just take a billion pictures of him and i have to find them!

Bodhi is definitely all newf! He is such a goofball. I love your avatar pic with the tongue hangin' out and all. Definitely looks just like other newfs. No doubt about it.
