Dog Scouts of America Troops - What Fun!!!
« on: January 30, 2008, 05:04:14 pm »
Cirra has been staying very busy with her Downeast Dog Scouts troop.  Last December her troop walked in a Christmas Parade and had a booth at at "Downtown Family Festival".  At the festival troop members and their dogs showed children how to greet dogs properly.  We gave large paw print stickers to the children who participated in greeting our dogs. During the first four months of this year we are using part of each meeting to help the other troop dogs with their Dog Scout Test.  Cirra has earned her Backpacking and Clean Up II badges.  Here is a link to troops across the country.

There isn't one in our area.  Congratulation s to you and Cirra for all the hard work and dedication that I am sure it took to get those badges.

We started our own troop last September.  We have nine household memberships and eleven dogs so are a small group.  The Dog Scouts are all about responsible dog guardianship and the importance of the human/canine bond.  We plan to start some community service activties for the dogs in our area.  The Dog Scouts have recently been updating their website and it has a lot of great information about training and the Dog Scouts of America.  www.dogscouts. org  I saw that there were several "Future Troops" and thought folks might be interested.
