Our new baby Brute
« on: February 15, 2008, 06:34:49 am »
I am sure most of you saw my post about the puppy my "friend" could no longer keep do to "high" vet bills.

Well let me introduce to you our new baby Brute. We have not decided on keeping him yet or find him a great home but I think that he isnt going anywhere.

He is a weimaraner.  He will be 9 weeks old on sunday.

I know hahhaa ;D  My husband keeps telling me to ask around if anyone wants a pup.  I simply tell him no one wants one right now!!  I know I'm bad.  But you look at those eyes and just melt. To think that anyone could have looked at this pup and put him to sleep is beyond me.

He is very sweet.  Loves my other dogs and they seem to like him.  His cough has gone away after only a couple of days on meds but he wont be done with them for about another week and a half.

He is soooo cute, Thank god you got involved. If they were worried about a little vet bill, how was the dog ever going to get shots or anything, they obviously have no business owning a dog. I think you should name the dog Payton. That is a much better dog than baby name and then your husband would want to keep the puppy for sure.

hahah, sorry...in advance but WHOOOOH GIRL! You are nuts! hahhahahhaa! A 9 week old WEIM pup and you're pregnant?! You are seriously BRAVE! Good luck. He's adorable. I just know that there is absolutely no way I could handle a 9 week old ANYTHING let alone a weim pup right now.

I don't know about nuts....I was thinking brave & generous.  :-*  :)  I'm just so glad that he has a home & that he's safe.  The idea of putting a puppy to sleep for a cough just makes me sick.  I don't begin to understand his first owners & the breeder, but beyond all that I'm amazed that their vet was willing to put him to sleep. :o  :(  It's unfathomable.   :(

That is why we jumped in so fast.  It was by pure luck that I even got the phone call in time.  I was in between classes for school (i am finishing up dental hygen.) and I saw that I had a message from the woman that owned him.  She was saying that she couldnt get together that night for a play date with the dogs because they were having him put down.

I couldnt believe it.  I called my hubby and told him and he called her telling her to bring the pup and we would take him to our vet and we would take him.  I know that being five months pregnant with a new pup is going to be hard and I know that if I go full term that he will be 6 1/2 months old.(Prime chewing stage and hyper stage for a weim) but I felt like he has as much of a chance at life then any other dog and even if we couldnt give it to him I know plenty of people that would give it a chance.

And I might not have to keep him.(even though I have fallen in love) My dad and Step mom got a male Weim from us when we had a litter with our female and he just turned 1 and they said that they might want him if we didnt.  So who knows.  But I love him so I dont know how well that will go.
