I'm such a dork - I cried
« on: February 16, 2008, 06:55:37 am »
Well I just dropped Harley off at the Pet Resort (kennel).

The trainer I used for Harley when he was a pup owns it and it is beautiful 5 stars, he will go on play dates, take daily walks, get his 8:00 biscuit and everything but he won't have ME!!

When I got there they took him from me and escorted him back to his room - but I didn't get to say bye  :-\
They said they would bring him back to say bye but it wasn't in his best interest so I said it was OK so I left...and cried!!

What a wuss I am.

Randy

The first time I left Tipper at a doggy resort I thought my husband would have to pick me up off the floor! But Tipper had a great time on his vacation and so did I. The first time is the hardest, it gets less emotional after you pick him up and see what a great time he's had.  :)

Awww, you're not a dork!  We're not good at leaving our pups either.  Shoot, last night our pups all rode in the car when we went out for dinner.  Granted, the weather was comfortable, it was close to home and we weren't inside the restaurant long, but they could've stayed home right?  Uhhh nope, they gave us those sad eyes and begged to go along for the ride, sigh, so they came.  We're such big ol' mushballs.   ::)  :-[  ;)

I know that Harley will have a great time playing with the other pups & all the toys.  I hope that you have a wonderful trip.

Um, Randy I would TOTALLY cry too (dropping Kate off), so you're not alone when it comes to the "wuss" department!!! ;D ;)

We've had her booked in at a kennel twice now and both times our trips were cancelled...so she still hasn't gone!!! ::)

I applaud all of the dorks of the world. I wish everyone who owned a pet was a dork. That way we would not have the "need" for shelters.

Wow, a vacation.  In 22 years hubby and I have vacationed together exactly twice since the special medical needs of my zoo require 24/7 monitoring by an attentive human.  With his medical training, I feel OK leaving them all in his care.

I hope you stop crying long enough to have some fun!

Count me in as one of the DORKS too!  We left the pups for a week in Nov. to travel back east and I think I called home everyday (had a friend stay with them).  Great wlecome when we got back.  Tried the boarding thing over the New Year Holiday and it just didn't work out.  Hooked up with the neighbor (2 doors down) who absolutely thinks the MALS are "AWESOME" so now I can take my Jessi (9 year old wonderful daughter) skiing every so often overnight.  Just got back after being gone last night to lots of woooo-woooing and HAPPY PUPPIES.  They love their puppy sitter who loves them back and they get to keep their routine - and then I get all this wonderful love when I get home!  I hate leving them - wish they could come with us - but their is definetly not room in my Durango for me, my duaghter - skis, gear , a huskey and 2 very large Mal puppies - plus the drool alone would flood the car ;D

Enjoy your vacation - Don't feel bad for calling lots - I always do (2 -3 calls for a brief overnight stay is normal for me!)  I think our sitter thinks we are nuts - but he comes over to visit the pups for most of the time I am gone!
