« on: February 22, 2008, 03:21:05 am »
This was posted on another list and I EMailed Jayme to see if she would mind me crossposting it onto other lists.  She wrote back that it was okay.

with a heavy heart i am needing to find a new perfest home for my
leonberger max, he turned a year old in september and will come with
his APRI registration papers, he has been nuetered. he is house broke
and great with kids and other animals (goats, poultry, cats and bunnys
and horses) he has food agresion issues that i have tried to work out
with him, but hasnt worked. he wants to be to be top dog and has been
having issues with my 6 year old nuetered retriver. he is very sweet
to people, doesnt know a stranger and loves car rides, plays great
with my 4 year old son. i think he would be much bettter in an only
dog home. he is a big boy weighing in around 200lbs. walks great on a
leash loves to snuggle on the couch.
located near joplin missouri, email me for more infor or questins

15 months and 200 lbs?  I think she's mistaken otherwise he's a very obese leo who would be too fat to even walk.  :o

He sounds like a great leo with issues that can be easily worked on.  This can be a difficult age for some people.  I hope he goes to someone with experience.

Off topic, but just how big do Leos get?  I have never seen one in person.  I have always thought they were beautiful dogs, but they must be rather rare in FL.

It could very well be that he is a mix.  Missouri is notorious for puppy mills.  No reputable leo breeder would register their dogs with APRI.

Most U.S leos were registered with the LCA(Leonberger Club of America) but at the start of this year they are to be registered with AKC Foundation Stock Service.

I'm Canadian so my Canuck born leos were registered with both the LCA and the CKC.

This dog may very well be purebred but the owner just incorrect on the weight because I do know of a Leonberger breeder in this exact town (it's only 90 minutes away from me). And since Leo breeders are so rare around here, I'm guessing it's the same one. I'd love to take him, but there is just no way.  :( Maybe I could transport if someone on here wanted him though.
