Awwwe, he's cute.  He reminds me of my Tater.

I can't quite tell, but is he a dumbo?  He kinda looks it from the last pic.

AW. rats are amazing pets! Most people have no idea -they're like little tiny dogs -know their names, their people, can be trained and don't bark...that's a lovely dumbo -I'm not sure, but I always heard that dumbos were more laid-back than standards? I've only had one dumbo... and she definitely was not more relaxed than her cagemates... Then again, I only had females... because I can't quite deal with how obviously male boys are  :D and females are quite a bit  more energetic than male rats... anyways, I'm rambling. Congrats on the rattie! he is way cute! and looks smart!!

At that age, handling can be difficult just b/c of how active they are.  But once he gets used to it, he'll settle down and let you carry him around.  They do like to ride on shoulders.

I have 2 rex mix brothers myself.  I'd like to get a dumbo or a hairless, or a hairless dumbo next.

Here's Tater and Sunny, my two lardbutts.  They look extremely round in this pic.  They are large but not as fat as they look.  Being males they don't use a wheel or exercise ball.  Since they are fairly furry, their "maleness" doesn't bother me as I don't see it that much.  If I had a hairless it would probably gross me out a bit more.......... lol.  They are loving their new ferret cage I got them for Christmas.
