shipping
« on: March 26, 2008, 09:47:57 am »
I wrote to a company who is willing to ship to APO... with USPS it is $30 per bag of food. That is over half of the cost of the dog food!!! I can't afford 80 for a single bag of dog food.

I am very frustrated.... and depressed that I can't get anything with quality for my dog unless I go broke.

And no I can't buy it from the economy either as it would be even more for that same bag of dog food. a big bag of large breed kibble from Royal Canin is 60 euros. Add in the exchange rate and that brings it to a few cents shy of 100 USD. It is like this for all dogs food. The price is most often twice as much as the states.

It sounds horribly frustrating!! Here you are trying to provide your pup with good food and can't. Argghh.

I'm sure you have looked into all options, but I thought that there was a German kind of dog food called "hund-n-flocken" or something like that--is that available to you?

Yes they have it... but it is still over 30 euros for a small/15lb bag.
I even buy my German friend food for her Dobbie on post, yes I know we are not supposed to do this, because of the cost difference.

Does anyone know of a company who sells the Solid Gold in NY and ships?
I think we have decided on the Solid Gold Bison.
DH is checking on the Government working dog food even.

I checked the vigor one.. and it lead me to a search engine.
The Burns one isn't completely filler free.
And the price of their dog food with the exchange rate isn't good plus I would have to pay customs.

I would never pay that for dog food even if the stuff was made of gold! If good food is that hard to come by why not just feed a cheaper local brand and do half and half with home cooking?

I missed their 13% off by a day... but 5% is better than nothing plus it seems the price of the food is cheaper than everywhere else I have looked.
We are giving her some natural things but it is hard to do it completely.
