Re: Bear is at the hospital - UPDATE
« Reply #20 on: April 08, 2008, 05:29:14 pm »
I brought Bear home this morning after his overnight stay in the emergency hospital. They weaned him off the diazepam drip around midnight and he's been seizure free since his first seizure there. He seems his usual self, if not a bit tired. He's eating fine (good poops) and is very snuggly. No apparent lingering side effects from the seizures. And Nakita is very happy to have her companion home.  :-*

We're increasing his pheno doses to hopefully quell further episodes. If he continues to break through I'll have to consider adding another med. I'm just sooooo relieved that he's okay. I took the day off work to be with him, and am nervous about leaving him alone tomorrow and Friday. I hope the added pheno will keep him safe.

Thanks so much for all your good thoughts and prayers. It's so comforting to have a strong, understanding, and loving community behind us!

So glad he's home!!  Navarre ended up on a very high dose of pheno and was still siezing so they added KBr and started reducing the pheno and he did well on that.  Just know that there are other meds out there if the pheno doesn't work. Don't hesitate to ask any questions that you may have!
