EMERGENCY RESCUE OF GREAT PYR NEEDED EUTHANIZATION FRIDAY!
« on: August 03, 2005, 07:18:40 pm »
I received this email this evening from one of the families one of my Kuvasz went to.  :'( I am posting this on the Pyr section in the hopes somebody can help this poor dog.  I just looked at him online and he is so beautiful!  At cowetta County Animal Control number is  770-254-3735 .  Adoptions /rescues have to done in person.  Thanks guys!

Hi Shana,

Could you post a save a Great Pyr on Big Paws? There's a Great Pyr in Georgia due to be euthanized on Friday. Go to www.petfinder. com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=4873046&adTarget=&SessionID=42f1469f6e1c68d2-app4&display=&preview=1&row=0&tmpl=&stat=  I hope someone can save him. If we were moved, I'd go get him. We like guardian dogs and once we are settled after our move, I will get involved in rescue.

Thanks, I'll let you know once we get Sapphire tatooed.

Take care,
Deena

on their website it has this : SPONSORSHIP POSSIBLE: IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SPONSOR A SWEET AND LOVING KITTEN, CAT, or DOG (vet bills, etc.) to help save its life and find it a loving home, please contact our rescue organization immediately at shelterrescue@direcway.com for information.

I will contact any pyr rescues I can find tomorrow or later tonight if hubby doesn't need the computer.

Nina, I dont know what pyr groups you have emailed, but it cant hurt even if we should happen to email the same ones. I am just now getting online again, had a loooong nap after a nyquil self medication lol...... I will pull out my lists here and see if I can also find all breed rescue groups around here.

Ill get on it right away. I wish they put out age and more info on those petfinder posts.

and emailed the emails in Florida and Georgia.
Anyone else I can email?

The other thing we might try is calling the animal shelter that has him and tell them who we are with and that we are trying to find a rescue to take him. And simply ask what we have to do to buy him more time. Think that would work? I am willing to call tomorrow if you all want me to.

great sobe...... I am still trying to find rescues, all breed rescues. I think Nina sent emails to the gr. pyr rescue groups in and around GA. If you feel like searching though, do a search online and see what you can come up with, and email as many as you have the energy for  :D

Thanks for helping, I wish these dogs knew they actually have friends out here.

It is late and I have been working with both dog and cat rescue and the dogs on here most all day, now with fever and cold I am feeling totally emotional and feel I might go to bed crying for a bit, thinking about all the poor poor babies out there, that need homes.

In this country alone about 5 million dogs and cats are put to sleep each and every year.

I found another site for rescue  <http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/3528/.   It has an alphabetical list of breeds. I went to G and emailed all the Pyr rescues in the surrounding areas of Georgia.

I am on my way to work, I cannot thank all of you enough for the help.  I will say prayers all day for him, and hope when I get home and check the bigpaws site, there will be happy news!  Shana

I emailed Flordia, Tennesse, North and South Carolina and can't remember which other ones. But Terrry is a rescue person that represents Florida, Georgia and one other state, he is the one that pull the other 2 Pyrs. So hopefully he can help us one this one.
